Beagle With a Purpose

It's been a while again and my mom hasn't been very good about posting all the cool stuff that keeps happening to me! And a LOT has happened!

A few months ago my mom decided I might be a really good therapy dog because I love people and they love me (most of them)! She says I'm pretty calm for a young beagle, or any beagle at all I guess, so she contacted the good people at the Red Cross and got some information about how to become a Red Cross Therapy Animal. First I had to go to a nursing home and prove that I am friendly and well-behaved. I did such a good job! I met a few of the nurses and staff and also some nice older folks who were excited to see me. Then I went to a fun event for doggies at the Cross of Life Church in Linglestown. There was food there and lots of people and dogs, so I was pretty thrilled. The last observation I had to pass was during the American Cancer Society's Relay/Walk for Life. Of course, I passed! I'm happy because all I had to do was be myself and my mom was so proud of me!

Last Saturday was my first gig as an official therapy pet. My mom took me to City Island in Harrisburg for the Armed Forces Day event. Lots of people pet me and told me how sweet and handsome I am, and I soaked it all up.

Yesterday my Aunt Erin took me to the school where my mom teaches. I got to meet a ton of first and second graders who went crazy over me. I loved it but it was a little overwhelming because they all wanted to hug and love me at the same time. Maybe now I will listen better to my mom when she tells me to stop because I see what she goes through every day as a teacher (or maybe not...he he).

So, that's what I have to share for now! I can't wait to tell you more of the cool things I do as a therapy dog.

On a final note....YAY, the weather is nice enough to go back to the dog park for playdates! :) But BOO to the ticks that seem to be infesting the grass already.
