I...smell...food!

Being that this is my first autumn ever, I have never smelled fresh pumpkin pie! That is, not until last Sunday when my mom decided to make her first pumpkin pie. I guess I thought it was for me since I've never tried it... turns out I was wrong.

Maybe if I just keep watching it will fall off the edge?

Beagle loves leaves!

Since the leaves started falling a few months ago, I discovered that I LOVE LEAVES! I go crazy over them when they blow in the wind and chase them around. Sometimes I'm lucky enough to catch one in my mouth and I shake it around like crazy. I love being outside in the cooler weather, but the last few times I went for a walk in the woods, my mom found 3 ticks on me! Those things are awful.

My newest favorite thing is snuggling my whole body up under the covers. I feel safer that way, I think.

Oh, one more thing. I decided last week that I'm not a fan of hardcover books. My mom isn't too happy about this.

A blog about dogs

I thought I would share this great blog. It's not only about dogs, but about how dogs affect their people! The most recent post "Can Pets Improve Your Relationship" is worth reading.

Goodbye Summer

I can't believe the hot weather is nearly gone! I think I like this cool stuff much better. Since my last post I've learned even more tricks and I've also grown a little more, too! My growing days are probably over now though, so what you see is what you get. Not only can I sit, but now I shake, lay down, jump and stand on my back legs! I'm trying to learn how to roll over, but that's really hard to do.

I've always loved chasing things that move, but now that fall is coming and more leaves are falling off the trees, I have a ball every time the wind blows and I can run after them! I also love to chase crab apples and kick them around like I'm playing soccer. Mom doesn't want me to chew on them so when she asks me to drop them, I do it right away. She's impressed because I never drop my toys when she asks me to!

Well, I'll leave you with a picture. My mom celebrated her birthday recently and I was so kind to help her open her gifts! On Friday, it will be my 8 month birthday. Boy how time flies when you're having fun in your forever home :)

Shake!

I am such a smart boy! After a month of my mom trying to bribe me into lifting up my paw for a treat, I've finally given in and give it to her when she asks me to "shake". She's pretty excited and so am I... more treats! :) Here's my awesome new trick:

Good News! (Sad story, but happy ending)

Sadly, many animals are subjected to different kinds of testing, but some of those animals are lucky enough to escape this horrible treatment. Here is a story to celebrate rescuing animals that truly need to be rescued.

Heat Wave

It has been so hot here lately! To beat the heat my mom took me to her friend's pool to see how I like swimming (which I'm not sure if I do yet). My mom held me in the water, which wasn't too bad, and I got to ride on a boogie board! I was happy to get out of the pool and I felt so good!

Camping

Yesterday I had my first camping experience. I probably would have enjoyed it a lot more if the other dogs didn't find me so attractive. I was on my back a lot and since I'm a curious beagle, I had to stay on my leash the whole time so I wouldn't wander off. I also discovered that I don't like the loud noises that fireworks make; they scare me and I start to shake. Here are some pictures of me and my friend Lager (another beagle)!

I've been rescued!

Hi! My name is Milo and I am a happy, loving, energetic beagle puppy. My mom and dad rescued me from Nittany Beagle Rescue in May when I was 4 months old. My original owner was a single mom with a young toddler. She made a really tough decision giving me up, but it ended up being the best thing to happen to me because I found my forever home (at least that's what my mom keeps saying)!

Since my mom and dad have had me, I've learned how to sit, scratch when I have to go potty, walk pretty nicely on a leash, and sleep outside of a crate all through the night. I've also lost lots of baby teeth and I'm on my way to having a mouth full of big dog teeth! I'm working on my howling, especially when I'm trying to bury my bones in the couch. Last month I got neutered, but that didn't stop me for even a second!

I love to be outside where I can run, play, dig, lay in the grass, chase anything that moves and, best of all, SNIFF! I think I have the best nose in Pennsylvania. My favorite thing to do is meet new people and dogs; I can't help getting really excited when I do!
